BU Baby successfully renewes OEKO-TEX Certificate in 2023

Products that adhere to the OEKO-TEX 100 standard must pass more than 100 tests for formaldehyde levels, pesticide residues, extractable heavy metals, organochlorine compounds, and preservatives like tetra- and pentachlorophenol, among other things. The goods that pass this test are acknowledged as being safe for use, protecting human health, and being environmentally friendly.

Every product component, from fabric to thread to accessories, has been thoroughly tested against a list of up to 350 hazardous chemicals, according to the OEKO-TEX 100 standard. Depending on how the product will be used, it will come into direct contact with skin. The more sensitive the skin, the stricter the testing requirements must be in accordance with the safety levels (1, 2, 3, 4), with level 1 being the highest safety level for infants and young children (0-36m), which is also the level that BU Baby products achieve.

However, the OEKO-TEX 100 certification is only valid for 12 months and must be renewed every year in accordance with new evaluation standards, updates based on new scientific knowledge, or new regulatory requirements.

The OEKO-TEX 100 certification renewal procedure is always started by BU Baby about three months before it expires in order to maintain product safety over the course of several years. The Hohenstein Institute in Germany conducts stringent tests on BU products to ensure they satisfy the requirements of the highest international standards and renew their certification for the following year.
